At Make Kids Matter, we support low-income youth and young adults, helping them overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
Free basic health check-ups (e.g., vision, hearing, and general wellness) for children and families.
Assistance in submitting and fulfilling wishes for children in need, including personalized wish consultations.
Interactive sessions on nutrition, mental health, and child development for parents and caregivers.
Information and referrals to local support services like counseling, food assistance, and housing aid.
Fun, engaging activities (e.g., crafts, games) to promote family bonding and child engagement at the expo.
Distribution of small kits containing first-aid supplies and health essentials for families.
Every year, Make Kids Matter delivers measurable results for children and families across Arizona's West Valley — completely free of charge, with no barriers to entry.
Literacy is the foundation of every opportunity a child will ever have. When families learn together, generations are transformed.
Our Healthy, Happy & Bright Family Literacy Program brings parents and children into the learning process side by side. When parents gain literacy skills, children gain a partner at home who supports their education every single day.
We provide structured instruction, Parent and Child Together Time (PACT) sessions, and take-home resources — all at zero cost to families.
More than a third of families in our service area speak a language other than English at home, limiting access to education and opportunity.
Our program delivers structured instruction, PACT sessions, and take-home literacy resources to nearly 100 participants annually.
75% of children who complete our program show measurable reading improvement — above the national average for comparable interventions.
Our adult education component equips parents with English language and functional literacy skills to actively support their children's education.
16% of local adults lack a high school diploma. Low adult literacy is directly linked to unemployment, food insecurity, and reduced outcomes for children.
Children not reading proficiently by 3rd grade are significantly more likely to struggle academically. We meet families before that critical window closes.
