We Meet Children Where They Are
Make Kids Matter provides need-based items across five categories. Every item is given with care — because every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and hopeful.
School & Creative Supplies
Every child receives a backpack filled with everything they need to arrive at school confident and ready to learn.
- Notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, markers
- Glue sticks, scissors, rulers, erasers
- Pencil case and full backpack
Toys & Fun
Items that help children relax, express themselves, and feel normal during tough times — by age group.
- Ages 2–10: stuffed animals, dolls, action figures, blocks, puzzles, art kits
- Ages 11–17: card games, journals, sketchbooks, earbuds, sports balls, small speakers
Hygiene & Personal Care
Everything packed in a reusable zip bag so kids can feel fresh and dignified every day.
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap or body wash
- Shampoo, deodorant, hairbrush, comb, washcloth
- Feminine hygiene products (when needed)
- Lotion and a small towel
Clothing & Shoes
Season-appropriate outfits so families do not have to worry about laundry every single day. We aim for 5–7 full outfits per child plus at least one brand-new pair of sneakers or school shoes in the correct size.
- Underwear, socks, pants or shorts, shirts, jackets, pajamas
- Brand-new sneakers or school shoes (correct size)
- 5–7 complete outfits per child
Food Support
Non-perishable staples designed to cover a family for 14–21 days. When possible, we include a grocery gift card for fresh produce.
- Rice, pasta, canned vegetables & beans
- Peanut butter, oatmeal, cereal, shelf-stable milk
- Tuna, spaghetti sauce, healthy snacks
- Grocery gift card when available
