Organization: Make Kids Matter
Mission: To give back to low-income youth year-round by providing the educational resources, training, and mentorship they need to succeed.


1. Purpose

  • Reduce educational inequality for underserved children and teens in the West Valley.

  • Provide access to learning tools, technology, and training that help youth reach their full potential.

  • Support personal development through mentorship and skill-building programs.


2. Target Audience

  • Children and teens aged 6–18 from low-income families.

  • Schools, community centers, and youth programs in the West Valley, AZ.


3. Core Activities

A. Educational Resources

  • Provide school supplies: notebooks, pencils, art supplies, backpacks.

  • Donate technology: laptops, tablets, and other learning devices.

  • Curate learning kits with books, STEM activities, and educational games.

B. Training & Workshops

  • Academic tutoring in math, reading, and science.

  • Career readiness: computer literacy, resume building, interview prep.

  • STEM programs: coding, robotics, and science experiments.

  • Creative arts: music, drawing, writing, and theater workshops.

C. Mentorship

  • Pair youth with mentors from schools, local businesses, and community leaders.

  • Offer monthly check-ins and goal-setting sessions.

  • Life skills development: financial literacy, time management, leadership.

D. Community Engagement

  • Host monthly pop-up learning events and hands-on activities.

  • Family workshops to support learning at home.

  • Partner with local schools, libraries, and nonprofits for broader impact.


4. Year-Round Implementation

  • Quarter 1: Needs assessment, volunteer recruitment, resource collection.

  • Quarter 2: Launch tutoring, workshops, and distribute resources.

  • Quarter 3: Mentorship programs, STEM and arts events.

  • Quarter 4: Evaluate impact, celebrate accomplishments, and plan for next year.


5. Funding & Sustainability

  • Seek grants for youth education and technology access.

  • Fundraise via online campaigns, events, and local donations.

  • Partner with corporations for sponsorships or in-kind donations.

  • Rely on volunteers for workshops, tutoring, and mentorship.


6. Measuring Success

  • Number of youth served and resources distributed.

  • Improvement in academic performance or skills development.

  • Participation in workshops and mentorship programs.

  • Feedback from youth, families, and community partners.
